Earth Day: 5 Ways To Make A Positive Impact
April 22 marks "Earth Day" - a global initiative to celebrate and support environmental and climate protection. It's important that everyone does their part to reduce their environmental footprint where we can, so we've put together a list of five easy ways you can make an positive impact today, and everyday.
1. Support your local farmer's market.
Not only is local grown produce better for your health, but it's better for the environment too! Food at farmer's market is fresher, and the average produce at a grocery store travels some 1,500 miles from where it is actually grown. Talk about transport pollution!
2. Wash your clothes wIth cold water.
This simple change in your daily routine can help save major amounts of energy. And think about it, does washing your clothes in cold versus hot water make that much of a difference? You probably won't even notice.
3. Invest in a reusable water bottle.
We've known that water bottles are bad for the environment for, like, ever. Seriously! There are so many amazing, trendy reusable water bottle brands that make it so easy, and stylish, to decrease the amount of plastic we use and better the environment.
4. Get some house plants.
Another cute way to make a positive impact on the environment! House plants have shown to help get rid of indoor air pollutants and kill environmental toxins.
5. Walk, or cycle, more.
Uber is cool and all, but nothing beats helping the environment while burning a few calories. Less cars on the road means less toxins and pollutants being released into the air.
