Happy Father’s Day From OPI

We often hear the phrase,
  • We often hear the phrase, "like mother, like daughter," but a father's impact on his child's life is just as influential, and not just for little girls.

We often hear the phrase, "like mother, like daughter," but a father's impact on his child's life is just as influential, and not just for little girls.

A father's unwavering love is like a permission slip. When he looks upon his child with acceptance it creates a ripple effect of vibrant self-expression and a belief that color is the answer no matter who you are.

We'll never forget when 5-year-old, Sam, was bullied at school for wearing bright red nail polish. When his father took note of the social norms that were taking their toll on his son's right to express himself, he showed his support in solidarity by painting his own nails and sharing the story on social media, which made national headlines.

That loving father created a movement among boys and men across the country, painting their nails and sharing their photos in support. Perhaps the most influential being Rob Gronkowski from the New England Patriots.

That event showed us that fathers have the power to normalize positive self-expression in all forms. It's their hidden superpower.

Today we want to recognize all the dads who take a stand for their families in ways both big and small.

All the dads who take care of their kids while their partners accelerate in their careers. The dads who do the dishes, grocery shop, and are happy to support their families outside of gender normative roles.

Dads who indulge in not only in sitting on the sidelines at sports practices, but are also brave enough to sit on the couch and let their child paint their nails.

This simple act of adding one coat of color to their hands shows a child that self-expression shouldn't be denied to anyone.
