Our feet may spend the majority of winter stuffed into our favorite shade of Hunter Boots, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be taking care of them.
With our feet going from frigid temperatures outside to the heated indoors, it’s common for our feed to become dry which can lead to painful cracked heels and itchy, peeling skin. Not cute. When it comes to the question of how often should you be getting a pedicure, it really depends on personal preference, but it is important to do your pedicurist a favor and take care of your feet in between visits! Follow these tips for footsie-worthy feet all season long:
Remove Dead Skin. To get rid of dead skin, use a pumice stone or

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Using a foot scrub is the best way to keep your feet smooth and prevent them from getting too dry. Use a foot scrub with natural crystals as often as you feel dryness coming on.
Moisturize. Just like the rest of the skin on your body, the bottom of the feet need moisture daily. Apply a thicker moisturizer after every bath or shower to prevent moisture loss and keep cracked heels at bay.
Get smart with your shoes and socks. You may not think about this, but the shoes and socks you put on your feet could be contributing to dryness. Opt for cotton socks over wool because they won’t be as rough on the skin. As for your shoes, make sure they fit you well. Shoes that are too big or too small can rub against the skin in all the wrong ways and contribute to calluses. Around the house, make sure you wear socks or slippers. Especially in the winter, walking barefoot creates friction that will dry your feet.
