Say hello to this month’s pro: Romania-based nail artist and OPI Trainer Cristina (@cristinabegu).

Known for her minimalist designs and abstract linework, Cristina’s signature style is at once calming and compelling. Keep reading to discover her favorite shades and what she loves most about being a nail artist.

OPI: What was the first OPI shade you remember using? What did you love about it?

Cristina: The first OPI color I tried was Bubble Bath, resonating closely with my personality, and it remains a favorite for me to work with.

OPI: You’re an OPI Trainer in Romania, how incredible! What has been your favorite memory collaborating with us?

Cristina: Since 2018, I've proudly been an OPI trainer, cherishing many memorable moments along the way. Among these, winning the NTVA Gold Award in 2020 stands out as a highlight. This achievement not only brought me to the Grand Canaria OPI event but also led to an unforgettable experience backstage, collaborating with jhair_stylist. It remains one of the most extraordinary events I've had the privilege to participate in.

OPI: What's your favorite shade from our new Spring '24 Collection?

Cristina: One shade from the 2024 spring collection that truly captivates me is "Gliterally Shimmer." It beautifully embodies the radiant essence of spring, infusing a dazzling sparkle onto my clients' nails.

OPI: How do you ideate the gorgeous designs and color combos we see on your IG page?

Cristina: I continually find inspiration in the latest collections as well as in the distinct personalities and styles of my clients.

OPI: What are you/have you been most excited about when it comes to doing nails?

Cristina: For me, doing nails is a sanctuary—a tranquil space where I find solace and relaxation. The opportunity to work with my cherished customers fills me with immense gratitude and appreciation.

OPI: How do nail styles and art differ in Romania vs the US?

Cristina: Each country boasts its own unique styles, approaches, and trends, while every nail artist infuses their work with their own distinctive personal flair.

OPI: Are there any techniques that you would recommend to other nail artists looking to create nail art with fine lines and details?

Cristina: I highly encourage everyone to embrace their personal style, attentively listen to their clients, and take the time to truly understand them. And for that extra touch of creativity, I always suggest incorporating a bit of abstract technique. ☺️

OPI: What are you hoping for as your nail career moves forward?

Cristina: I derive immense joy from working alongside my customers, relishing the rich interaction and connection we share. Equally fulfilling is the opportunity to impart my personal style and unique touch through teaching. Each training session is a flattering affirmation of my skills, and my ultimate aspiration is to extend my knowledge to individuals from all corners of the globe.

OPI: What's been the most pivotal moment in your career so far?

Cristina: The most significant milestone in my career thus far has been achieving the title of OPI trainer. This accomplishment serves as a profound validation of the dedication and hard work I've invested over the years, continually striving to enhance my skills as a nail artist with each passing day.

OPI: What Spring nail trends are you most excited to see this season?

Cristina: This Spring, I was delighted to discover the gentle sparkle in the latest collection, as it adds a refined elegance to the finishing touches of my work.

OPI: What advice would you give new nail techs trying to work with agencies or collaborate with brands?

Cristina: ⁠I wholeheartedly recommend that every new nail technician embrace authenticity, infuse their work with passion, and genuinely love what they do. With these ingredients, success is certain to follow!
