How to Apply Nail Polish

Nail polish application typically involves 1 coat of base coat, 2 coats of color application to ensure full coverage, and 1 coat of top coat for long-lasting wear and shine. Before you Begin

Step 1: Base Coat

Apply 1 coat of OPI Natural Nail Base Coat to start, and let dry. This provides a base for color to cling to, ensuring your mani lasts as long as possible.

What is the best nail polish for weak nails?

Step 2: Color

When it comes to color application, it’s best to apply nail polish down the center of the nail, to avoid flooding your cuticle. Then work your way down the sides of the nail, and be sure to cap the free edge as a final step. Apply 2 coats of color application, and allow each coat to dry in between.

*Pro Tip: When applying nail polish to very short nails, cap the free edge first by pulling down on the skin away from the edge. Then apply the remaining nail polish as usual.

How to Apply Glitter Nail Polish

Want to add some sparkle? When applying glitter nail polish with chunky glitter, use a dabbing motion to ensure proper placement and even coverage. We recommend 2 coats to achieve the full effect.

How will I know when my nail polish is dry?

Be sure to apply thin, even layers to avoid tackiness and slow dry time. Once nail polish is fully dry, it will lose a small amount of its shine. But don’t worry: we’ll achieve that glossy, high-shine finish you love in our final step.

Step 3: Top Coat

Once your nail polish has dried, apply 1 layer of OPI Top Coat. Out of time? Use RapiDry Top Coat for a quick-drying option that’s ready in just 60 secs.
