The Nail Artist Behind the Nails
Zola didn’t take the conventional route to becoming one of the most recognized nail artists in the world. The LA-based celeb nail tech came to the US in 2016 to pursue finance. With nails as her hobby, it wasn’t long before it took over. Ten years into her career, her client list has grown to include some of the most recognized names in the industry, and her work has a habit of going viral.
Her secret weapon? Two OPI shades and a very good idea.
The Moment that Made Her
In 2022, Zola showed up to the Met Gala with Funny Bunny and Tin Man Can. No grand plan. Just a client who wanted something natural and milky, and a nail artist who thought…what if we added chrome?
“She said, ‘I want a natural, milky white color.’ I was like, ‘Let’s add chrome to it.’ And then the glazed donut nail was born. We didn’t plan for it.”
What happened next was the biggest nail trend in recent memory. Minimalist but never boring, a sheer neutral base, a layer of chrome powder, and a finish that looked like a glazed donut. The name stuck. The look took over. And Zola became the nail artist everyone wanted behind their nails.
