This Black History Month, we’re spotlighting a pro who proves maybe you can do it all. Deviny opens up about building her career, finding her signature style, and balancing it all with intention and grace.

Please tell us a little bit about your career journey:

What started as creativity and curiosity turned into a career once I realized how powerful nails can be for confidence. Over time, I built my salon presence, grew my social media, and eventually became a full-time content creator alongside being a flight attendant and mom. It’s been a journey of passion, discipline, and trusting my creativity.

How would you describe your signature nail art style?

My signature style is elevated and intentional. I love clean structure, high-gloss finishes, soft glam details, and designs that feel polished but still expressive. Think modern femininity with a luxe touch. I’m drawn to refined shapes, flattering tones, and nail art that enhances rather than overwhelms.

As a flight attendant, how do you use your nails to express yourself in uniform?

Even when I’m in uniform, my nails are my personality piece. They’re one of the few ways I can subtly express myself while still maintaining professionalism. I lean toward sophisticated shades and clean designs that feel polished but still me. It’s my quiet statement.

What’s your secret to balancing all of your careers?

Honestly? Structure and grace. I’m 35, a mom, and juggling multiple careers, so planning is everything. I batch content, stay organized, and give myself permission not to be perfect. I prioritize what matters most in each season and move with intention. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.

What is one nail product you can’t live without?

A high-quality gel top coat. The shine, durability, and finish can completely elevate a set. It’s the difference between pretty and polished.

What is a nail trend you’re currently obsessed with?

Soft chrome overlays and subtle glazed finishes. They give dimension without being loud, and they photograph beautifully.

Do you prefer certain shades for different skin tones?

Absolutely. I love selecting tones that complement undertones. Warm skin tones glow in rich reds, chocolate browns, and golden nudes. Cooler undertones shine in berry tones, cool pinks, and crisp neutrals. The right shade enhances everything.

What are your favorite OPI shades?

I love classic reds and timeless neutrals from OPI because they’re dependable and flattering on so many clients. OPI formulas are consistent, smooth, and vibrant, which makes them a staple in both my salon work and content.

What advice do you have for other nail artists new to the industry?

Master your fundamentals before chasing trends. Invest in your skill, not just aesthetics. Build real relationships with clients. And don’t undervalue your time or creativity.

Any tips for growing your client base and social media influence?

Consistency and authenticity. Show your real process. Educate while you create. Speak directly to your audience. People book artists they trust—not just ones with pretty pictures.
