We created our OPI Peru collection because Peru is a country that just has too many bright sights to contain in just a few shades. In the process of exploring the nation and making sure our shades are as Peru-ti-ful as they can be, we discovered the five Peru locations and attractions you (or your nails) shouldn’t miss when you’re in the land of Incas.

Known as the City of the Kings, Lima is Peru’s capital city. This Peru attraction is a symbol of its Spanish colonial history, industry, and independence. Located on the desert strip between the Andes Mountain and Pacific Ocean, Lima resides more than 9 million people within its flourishing metropolitan area, making Lima the fifth largest city in South America and the second largest desert capital city in the world.

Cusco is the original seat of power for the Inca Empire. From its Inca and 16th century colonial architecture, to its narrow, winding streets, this Peru location has a romantic vibe with a distinct European feel. At 11,000 feet above sea level in the heart of the Andes, this city is widely considered the archaeological capital of the Americas thanks to its incredible mix of colonial and ancient architecture. Once the center of the Inca empire, Cuzco remains a hub of sorts for adventure-minded travelers touring South America. The city's stunning mountain setting, traditional handicrafts and vibrant festivals make it an absolutely essential destination for tourists visiting Peru attractions.

The Sacred Valley, also known as Urubamba Valley, is a prime Peru attraction for exploring Inca ruins and enjoying outdoor activities. The Valley's smaller towns and villages also have a laid-back pace that make them ideal for taking a step back from the hustle and bustle of city life. The Sacred Valley of the Incas was undoubtedly a key area of settlement to the Incas due to its ideal climate and fertile plains that attributes to a rare and fruitful combination for the high Andes. It was also the route to the jungle and therefore an area with access to the fruits and plants of the tropical lowlands. Today the Sacred Valley remains a lush agricultural region supplying the city of Cusco with much of its produce such as maize, fruit, and vegetables.
