What inspired you to become a nail tech?
Honestly, initially, it was my dad who thought it was a good idea to become one temporarily to support myself through college. Fast forward to now, what keeps me inspired is all of the creativity that comes along with it in the world of nails. The many cool varieties of "industry" jobs and the lovely people you meet along the way keeps it fresh, outside of routine, and keeps me going!

Where do you draw inspiration from?
Mostly surfing through Instagram and seeing other Nail Artist's work. Or seeing random beautiful wallpaper patterns, a painting, or a picture somewhere draws inspiration for me.

What is one nail care item you don’t leave the house without?
Like your cell phone, you don't leave without cuticle oil!

How do you take care of your own nails?
I wear my natural nails a lot, meaning no gel polish or artificial enhancers. Just regular polish. That is my best way of taking care of them. I will wear gel polish on occasion, but I will always give them a healthy breather as well.

Most memorable event/celebrity you worked with?

I was on a 5 day shoot for an Ad campaign where we went to Palms Springs for 2 of the 5 days. The rest of the days, we shot in Los Angeles, and Malibu. Over the course of the 5 days, everyone meshed and bonded well with one another. An easy-going, unforgettable crew! And because of that, that is what made it the most memorable.

How do you decide what to include in your nail kit? What items do you carry on set?

I always have my essentials with me for a manicure and the basic products needed for that such as my implements (cuticle nipper, pusher, and nail clipper), cuticle remover and oil, polish remover, cotton swabs, alcohol, foils, base coat, top coat, quick dry, nail files and buffers. In addition to that, I always keep in handy what I call the 2nd runner ups to have such as having a nail drill, nail tips, hards gels, acrylics - in other words, I keep almost everything with me. As far as color goes, the general rule of thumb is to have your nudes, reds, pinks, and dark colors always with you. Sometimes you may know specifically what they want, a lot of other times you don't, so I am always prepared with what's the most used, then if asked for more, I will go back out to bring it in from my car worst case.

Do you have an example of a time you feel empowered as a woman?

As women, we are natural-born nurturers, that a person of the opposite gender cannot completely mimic or take away; It is a loving nurturing power we possess, and I feel why not use it to our advantages and spread that energy! I always feel incredibly empowered as a woman, and every day is a moment in time that I feel it as a duty; Empowered women empower and support each other. Whether it is a close friend or someone through crossing, I try to at least be someone's positive support to lean on from time to time, even if it's just for a moment with a stranger. Knowing you can make a positive difference in someone else's life, even if it's just for a phasing moment for them is a check in my book and rewarding. It increases your sense of value and power to be of a positive difference. Being kind to those you encounter, saying hello, smiling, spreading good vibes and positivity is a great way to give back to this human race. We are only as strong as our weakest link and our world could use a bit more of self-respect and self-love to make this world go 'round.
