Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with @MelRodStyle
Between September 15-October 15, OPI is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. We reached out to our friend, style blogger and OPI lover, Melissa Rodriguez, to answer a few questions about what this month means to her and her Mexican heritage.
OPI: We obviously know and adore you - but tell our audience a bit about yourself and what you do.
Mel: My name is Mel and I am the blogger behind melrodstyle.com, which is a fashion & lifestyle blog. I created my blog in 2010 as a creative outlet to share my outfits and anything fashion related.
OPI: What inspires your style?
Mel: I pick up inspiration daily so my style is always changing - from the places I visit to the people I meet. I wear what I like, and what makes me feel like me.
OPI: This month we're celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, tell us about your background and what these holidays mean to you.
Mel: My parents were born in Mexico, and moved to the US before I was born. My family came to the US for same reasons most do, for better opportunities for their children.
OPI: What's your favorite memory that reminds you of your heritage?
Mel: My favorite memory would have to be when we celebrated my sister’s quinceañera, a big tradition in our culture.
OPI: And lastly, if you were an OPI shade, which one would you be and why?
Mel: Worth a Pretty Penne, because I’m a huge fan of nude tones. I love the shimmery copper – champagne color of this shade. I think it’s the perfect neutral color and goes with almost everything.
