OPI Pro Spotlight: @hannahroxit
Hannah Lee is a professional manicurist, blogger/vlogger at Hannah Rox It @hannahroxit, and our resident nail technician for the shows that OPI has partnered with for New York Fashion Week.
Hannah's best known for her nail tutorials on YouTube where she shows off her favorite OPI products and the best of DIY nail art. We're so excited for her to bring her creativity to life this season for Jeremy Scott, Rag & Bone, and Rodarte.
OPI: How did you get started?
Hannah: It's kind of a random story, but one day approximately 6 years ago, I painted my nails and thought to myself, 'Wow, I really enjoy doing this! Look how pretty my nails look!'. Soon after, I started to look at nail tech schools to go to, and halfway through it, I started my YouTube channel to share nail art tutorials. I didn't want to limit myself to just videos. I discovered that there are editorial manicurists that work on set, and because of my love for fashion, I knew that's what I wanted to do. I took a chance and contacted an artist agency in Atlanta asking if they ever needed a manicurist to please keep me in mind. From there I booked some amazing jobs manicuring Jennifer Lawrence, Lauren Cohan, and other high-end photoshoots like Bloomingdales and Buckhead Atlanta.
OPI: With this being your first time at Fashion Week, what are you most excited about?
Hannah: I'm beyond thrilled to simply experience what it's like to work at NYFW. I'm so excited to see how it all comes together and work alongside some of the most talented people in the industry!
OPI: What is your favorite OPI shade?
Hannah: I've fallen in love with 'Worth a Pretty Penne' from the Venice collection!
OPI: What are your favorite nail tools?
Hannah: Definitely a dotting tool, thin brush, and painters/striping tape for those clean lines.
OPI: Who do you look to for inspiration?
Hannah: I tend to find inspiration from just about anything. From driving past a billboard with a cool image to walking through a forest, or even just sitting and daydreaming about what would be a neat design. I also draw inspiration from fashion. Some designers have the coolest prints that you can recreate onto your nails.
OPI: What advice can you give to new nail technicians?
Hannah: Never stop learning! You always want to see what the current trends are, or about a new product that may be useful to you. Also, love what you do! 'Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life', am I right?
OPI: What shades are on your nails right now?
Hannah: I'm such a sucker for anything that sparkles, so currently I'm wearing 'Chasing Rainbows'.
OPI: What are your favorite blog looks?
Hannah: I'm obsessed with the faded French manicure I created not too long ago, as well as the simple and chic silver-striped design. I'm really loving minimalistic designs lately, and these two are just that.
